AHMEDABAD: The property tax department of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) decided on Tuesday to take possession of the Highland building located on CG Road in the Navrangpura ward. The building had an outstanding property tax of Rs 1.84 crore.

On Tuesday, the department stated in a press note that the property tax for the building was overdue as of the 2023-24 fiscal year. Despite repeated notices, the property tax was not paid by the owner/occupant.

Consequently, an auction was held on Tuesday to recover the outstanding property tax, but no one came forward to purchase the property. Therefore, in accordance with regulations, the decision was made to seize the property and transfer it to the AMC.
