BHUBANESWAR: Eligible slum residents of the city will get land rights certificates (LRC) in the second phase on Tuesday under the government’s flagship Jaga Mission.

In the first phase, 51,000 slum dwellers received LRCs. So far, 75,000 beneficiaries have been identified for LRCs. On August 28, around 65,000 homeless families of five cities residing in 875 slums received LRCs.

In this phase, LRCs will be distributed in three zones under Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation.

“Around 5,500 LRCs will be distributed on Tuesday for which arrangements have been made,” said BMC commissioner Vijay Kulange.

Jaga Mission, which began in 2018, aims to provide homestead land to the urban poor living in slums and make the city slum-free. Land rights are given as per Odisha Land Rights to Slum Dwellers Act, 2017 and the Odisha Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Act, 2022.
