Ludhiana Improvement Trust gets nod for construction of Atal Apartments
LUDHIANA: After a gap of almost six months, the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) has formally received an approval to go ahead with the construction process of Atal Apartments and give away letters to flat allottees.
The approval took so long in view of the ongoing vigilance inquiry into works carried out during the tenure of former LIT chairman Raman Balasubramanium.
A draw of lots will be carried out for flats which have been allotted so far. The officials said they will complete the process in the coming days.
The LIT had conducted a draw of lots for the flats to be constructed under Atal Apartments scheme on June 16.
The flats will be constructed on 8.8 acres of land on Pakhowal Road. Superintending engineer of LIT Satbhushan Sachdeva said, “We have received the approval. The next process will begin shortly.”
Notably, the Atal Apartments scheme has been hanging fire since 2008. The foundation stone for this project had been laid twice — first in 2011 by then local bodies minister Tikshan Sood and then in December 2021 by then CM Charanjit Singh Channi.
