Tamil Nadu: TNUHDB opens new residential project
TRICHY: Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board (TNUHDB) has commissioned a new residential complex for the low-income group (LIG) and economically weaker section (EWS) in Irungalur near Manachanallur in Trichy.
Chief minister M K Stalin virtually inaugurated the project on Monday. Visiting the housing complex, the district collector M Pradeep Kumar planted native tree saplings.
Officials said that the phase II residential complex of TNUHDB has 240 housing units built at 21.1 crores. Designed for the urban poor, the complex has 10 blocks, each has 24 units. Each dwelling unit has a bedroom, hall, kitchen, bathroom, and toilet, all built in 400 square feet of floor area.
TNUHDB has a phase I residential complex with 540 dwelling units in the same area which was entirely occupied. As there was a demand, phase II was proposed as an expansion project.
“Allotment of units to beneficiaries is yet to be made for phase II. We have launched a special camp to issue applications to interested people. The applicant’s annual income should be below 3 lakhs and they should not have their own house,” an official said.
